Bloomin' gorgeous tulips, food and music among festivities celebrating Staffordshire Day
A tulip festival is among a bumper line-up of events being held held to mark Staffordshire Day on Thursday.

This year’s celebration will run from the day itself on May 1 to Bank Holiday Monday providing a host of public events and activities for communities across the county and visitors to lap up.
Staffordshire Day celebration organiser Staffordshire Council says some of the events will be free along with a free prize draw competition where the public can put throw their hat in the ring for a chance to win overnight stays, days out, concert tickets and restaurant vouchers.
Attractions include Lower Drayton Farm's Tulip Festival, in Lower Drayton Lane, Penkridge, on Thursday(1) from 10am until 8pm.
On the anniversary of Josiah Wedgwood setting up the world-famous pottery firm the World of Wedgwood in Wedgwood Drive, Barlaston, has free taster factory tours on Thursday(1) from 10am-5pm.
Tamworth Castle in Riverdrive, Tamworth, is offering free entry for children accompanied by a full paying adult on the afternoon of Thursday(1).




The Staffordshire Moorlands Walking Festival is in full swing until Monday(5) with most of the walks free to join including nature reserves, Tittesworth Water or Rudyard Lake.
Other events include the Great British Food Festival at The Trentham Estate in Stone Road, Trentham from Saturday-Monday including the Shaun the Sheep trail and the Spring Bulb Festival which runs until May18.
At The National Memorial Arboretum near Lichfield will host ‘The Year was 1945 - VE Day Celebrations from Saturday-Monday with a free weekend of activities inspired by street parties. Attactins include live performances, 1940s them dance workshops, each day culminating with a visitor singalong.
At Drayton Manor Park near Tamworth which is also celebrating its 75th anniversary there will be a spectacular fireworks display, live music, late rides and more on Saturday and Sunday.
The first official Staffordshire Day took place in 2016 the year the county turned 1,000 years old. May 1 was chosen as the date after a public poll as it coincided with the anniversary of Josiah Wedgwood setting up his pottery company in 1759.
