Restaurants, takeaways and cosy cafes on shortlist to be named best in the Midlands

A tasty range of restaurants, takeaways and cafes from across Birmingham have been shortlisted for public votes for a prestigious award.

The public are being invited to vote for what they think is the best in the 2025 Deliveroo Awards.

The food delivery service has launched its annual awards to find the best in 11 categories nationwide, with a number of restaurants, takeaways and cafes shortlisted for each category.

The categories are Regional Restaurant of the Year, Best Chinese, Best Pizza, Best Fish and Chips, Best Middle Eastern, Best Pan-Asian, Best Indian and Nepalese, Best Burger and American, Best Thai, Best Chicken and Best Breakfast and Coffee.

It has also been split into five regional areas: Scotland, North England and Midlands, Greater London, South England and Wales and Ireland.

In the Midlands categories, nearly 20 places across Birmingham have been shortlisted in each of the 11 categories and are up for the public vote, with Indian restaurant tamatanga up for two awards.

The popular chain restaurant, which is based on Navigation Street, is up for the Regional Restaurant of the Year award, as well as the Best Indian and Nepalese restaurant.

Meanwhile, two restaurants have been shortlisted for the Best Chinese category, with i-Krave on Francis Road in Edgbaston and Tiger Bites Pig on Edmund Street both looking for votes, while Smoke + Ash on Greenfield Crescent in Harborne is on the shortlist for Best Pizza.

The eateries of Harborne were again acknowledged with The Cod's Scallops on Harborne High Street shortlisted for Best Fish and Chips, while Cleopatra's Kitchen on Stratford Road in Shirley was shortlisted for Best Middle Eastern.

The Best Pan-Asian has three contenders from Birmingham, with the Vietnamese Street Kitchen in Grand Central, Asia Asia Food Hall Group on Pershore Street and EatVietnam on Pershore Road in Stirchley all shortlisted.

Joining tamatanga on the shortlist for Best Indian and Nepalese restaurants were The Soho Tavern on Park Road and Copper Fox Grill on Quinton Road in Harborne, while Burger-Me-Up on Pershore Road in Stirchley was shortlisted for Best Burger and American.

Two restaurants were shortlisted for the Best Thai category, with Sabai Sabai on Waterloo Street and Pershore Road in Stirchley again represented by Soi 1268 by Buddha Belly and by Yardbirds, which was shortlisted for the Best Chicken category alongside Chicking on Bristol Road in Selly Oak.

Finally, Medicine Bakery and Damascena, which can be located across Birmingham city centre, were shortlisted for the Best Breakfast and Coffee category.

Voting for the awards closes on May 9, with the winners being revealed on the Deliveroo Restaurant Awards website for the winners in each region.
