The Barley Mow, which sits of the edge of Penn Common in Wolverhampton, is set to be taken over by the new team in an announcement made on Facebook.
The new management team said they had taken the decision to step up and bring the pub back up to how they felt it should be, with plans to close for a few days, then reopen on May 12.
In the message on Facebook, the group said: "As of May 12, a new management team will be taking over what was, and what will again be, one of the most beloved pubs in Penn.
"As of late, the Barley hasn't lived up to the pub we all know and love, to which we as regulars can only apologise for.
"As long serving regulars of the pub, we have made the decision to step up and be given the opportunity to bring the Barley back to its very best.

"Like many other people in Penn, the Barley has been part of our lives for decades and we are committed to bringing it back to the pub we know and love, with great food, great drinks and great people.
"The Barley will need to be closed for four or five day once the new management team take over. However, once we're open, we hope you will come down and join us for a celebratory pint for 'bringing the Barley back to how it should be.'
"Please do bear with the Barley over the coming weeks whilst we wait to take over.
"We hope to see you down the beloved Barley very soon. Marc, Alan, Danielle and Donna."
