National Highways put out a message to inform motorists that overnight closures will be taking place across the week on the northbound 42 junction 6 entry and exit slip roads to allow for the removal of traffic management.
The works will see the northbound entry slip road closed from 9pm to 5am on Monday and Tuesday as part of works to restore two lanes on the entry to the motorway.
There will also be lane closures around the junction and a diversion has been put in place.
A spokesman for National Highways said: "We’re removing traffic management to restore two lanes on the entry to the motorway.
"We'll close M42 junction 6 northbound entry slip overnight (9pm to 5am) each night and there'll be a lane one and lane two closure of the northbound M42 just before and after junction 6.
"A diversion will be in place and drivers can follow signs and join the M42 southbound to exit at junction 5 and then return northbound."
From Wednesday to Friday, work will then begin to remove the free flow link from the northbound M42 junction 6 exit to the A45 westbound.
The junction will be closed from 9pm to 5am each night, with lane closures around the junction and a diversion put in place.
A spokesman for National Highways said: "We’re removing the free flow link from the northbound M42 junction 6 exit to the A45 westbound, one lane of the northbound exit slip road and a section of lane one on the junction 6 roundabout.
"To install traffic management safely, we’ll close the M42 junction 6 northbound exit slip road and access to the A45 westbound directly from junction 6 overnight (9pm to 5am) each night.
"There’ll also be a lane 1 and lane 2 closure of the northbound M42 just before and after junction 6.
"Instead of the free flow link, you should now use the new A4545 to access the A45 westbound and Birmingham Airport.
"A diversion will be in place and drivers can follow signs to continue on the M42 northbound, exit at junction 9 and return on the M42 southbound to exit at junction 6join the A45 eastbound to Stonebridge Island and return westbound on the A45."
