West Midlands Police has introduced a Section 35 dispersal order in the town centre, which allows officers to move on people who they believe are contributing to antisocial behaviour or crime.
The force said the order has been introduced following an increase in antisocial behaviour in and around the town centre, including an incident on Wednesday evening (April 23) when a police officer suffered facial injuries after being attacked.
The powers will be in force until 5pm on Sunday, with West Midlands Police saying it is being enforced to offer reassurance to the community.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We have introduced special powers in Sedgley town centre following reports of antisocial behaviour.
"A Section 35 dispersal order is now in place which allows us to move on people we believe are contributing to antisocial behaviour or crime.
"The powers will be in place until 5pm on Sunday (April 27).

"We have introduced them following an increase in antisocial behaviour in and around Sedgley town centre."
Sargent David Hemsley from Dudley Police said: "We don't tolerate antisocial behaviour, and we have put the Section 35 dispersal in place to move anyone on who we believe may be causing problems.
"We will have extra officers in the area to offer reassurance to the community.
"If you witness any antisocial behaviour please contact us via Live Chat on our website or by calling 101.
