Man taken to hospital after assault on Wolverhampton canal path

A man has been taken to hospital after suffering an assault on a canal path near Wolverhampton city centre.

West Midlands Police officers were called to the canal path of the Birmingham Canal near Cross Street North in Wolverhampton just after 3pm on Saturday (April 26) to reports of an assault.

A man in his 40s was found with arm injuries which were not thought to be life-threatening and was taken to hospital for further treatment.

The force is now appealing for anyone with information that could help the investigation to get in contact.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We were called to Cross Street North, Wolverhampton shortly before 3pm after a man was assaulted on a canal path.

"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with more information can contact us via 101 or Live Chat quoting 2539 of April 26."

The West Midlands Ambulance Service has been contacted for a comment.
