Lindsey Wallfordd became increasingly angry and violent on Sunday, August 18, last year, and would spend the night in the cells after attacking two people and a police officer.

Wallford, of Price Crescent, Bilston, strangled one person, battered another, and then attacked responding police officer PC Bradley who had been called due to the scene after reports of violence.

When police arrived Wallford refused to co-operate with the officers and then resisted arrest and during the altercation she assaulted PC Bradley.

Concerning the attack on the people the 39-year-old was charged with intentional strangulation and assault a person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm. She was also charged with assaulting PC Bradley, an emergency worker, namely Police Officer, acting in the exercise of his functions by beating him.

Wallford pleaded guilty to all three charges at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court in March this year. She was sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court this week.

The maximum sentence for her three charges could have been 12 years imprisonment. However, Wallford received credit for pleading guilty at the first opportunity.

In mitigation, the court heard Wallford had been beset by personal problems in the lead up to her attack and had shown genuine remorse for her violent behaviour.

Recorder Joanne Barker told Wallford her crimes had easily passed the custody threshold. However, due to the current crisis in prisons and the negative impact a custodial sentence would have on Wallford's family Recorder Barker told Wallford she would be suspending the sentence of imprisonment.

Wallford was sentenced to 14 months imprisonment, suspended for two years, and ordered to attend rehabilitation days concerning her anger issues and decision making.
