More than 70 firefighters respond to factory blaze in Birmingham - with 380 homes left without power

Multiple crews have responded to a large blaze at a factory in Birmingham this morning.

West Midlands Fire Service sent 15 fire engines and around 75 firefighters to the factory site on Warwick Road in Sparkhill early on Sunday (April 20).

There have been no casualties. 

People have been asked to a avoid the area where possible and close all doors and windows. 

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We’re currently supporting West Midlands Fire Service with road closures, following a factory fire on Warwick Road, Birmingham."

A nearby National Grid substation has been affected by the fire and 380 homes have been left without power.

The substation has been isolated remotely, and National Grid expects power to be restored to all homes by 6.30pm tonight.
