Police were called to Swan Lane in Wordsley just before 4.30pm on Thursday (April 17) to reports of an armed man.

The suspect is said to have driven away before officers arrived, but they were able to track the vehicle to Birmingham city centre.

The car was pursued by police before it came to a stop in New Spring Street near the Jewellery Quarter just before 5.30pm, with the suspect making off on foot.

Police have since arrested a 32-year-old man on suspicion of possessing a firearm and possession with intent to supply drugs.

He remains in custody for questioning.

Police enquiries are ongoing in and around the Hockley area of Birmingham.
