The new role will help raise awareness and support for the charity’s mission of providing specialist palliative and bereavement support for people living with life limiting conditions.

The Steve Bull foundation contributed £1.1m in ten years to charitable organisations in the Wolverhampton area including Compton Care.

At Compton Care it ranged from purchasing new pillows and improving garden facilities, to purchasing new beds, a training manikin and pulse oximeters and nebulisers as well as a Covid emergency donation to support them during the height of the pandemic.

In 2021 the foundation contributed £40,000 towards the creation of new relative spaces and communal areas on the inpatient unit.

The donation was the result of extensive discussions to ensure the funds were used in a way that would have the greatest impact on patients and proved a major milestone for Compton Care.

Speaking in the communal area which the foundation helped to fund, Bully said: "Compton Care has always been close to my heart, having played for Wolves for so many years, living near their headquarters and seeing what they do for people in the area and beyond.

"The work they do for individuals and families facing incredibly tough times is truly inspiring.

"Kirsty and I are honoured to take on this role and look forward to continuing to help in any way we can.”

Although the Steve Bull Foundation has now been dissolved, in February the couple raised £1,000 from a Valentine's Day ball for the organisation

Kirsty, who runs BB’s Boutique in Perton, which frequently supports Compton with fundraising initiatives, added:  “It’s a privilege to be part of an organisation that makes such a meaningful difference in people’s lives and we will continue to work on their behalf to raise awareness of the work they do."

Rachel Overfield, Compton Care CEO, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Kirsty and Steve as official Compton ambassadors.

"Their passion and commitment to the Wolverhampton community, combined with their longstanding support of our work, make them the perfect ambassadors to help us reach more people in need and continue providing high-quality care.”
