Leon Haughton was arrested on Monday (April 14) in Great Hampton Street in Wolverhampton.
Police searched a car and found a live and viable firearm.
Haughton, from Wolverhampton, has been charged with attempted murder, two counts of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, and possession of a prohibited weapon.
It comes after a shooting in Dudley on April 6 after which a man presented at hospital with a suspected gunshot wound, and continues to recover from his injuries.
