Sharjeel Shahzad, 30, appeared at Wolverhampton Crown Court yesterday (Friday) and pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving and two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

The 30-year-old previously denied he was driving dangerously but had admitted a lesser charge of causing death and serious injury by careless driving.

Shahzad's Porsche Cayenne ploughed into a Toyota Auris on Saturday, December 14, killing Shehbaz Singh, and seriously injuring four adults, including both the two-year-old parents.

The child's mother Khushpreet remained in hospital for weeks after the accident in Dartmouth Road in Smethwick. The local community raised over £4,500 to help pay for the boy's funeral and the care of his mother.
