Best pub award handed out by Stourbridge and Halesowen CAMRA
THE Campaign for Real Ale has presented The Severn Stars at Oldswinford with an award declaring it one of the best in the Stourbridge area.

The Stourbridge & Halesowen branch of CAMRA handed its 2025 Pub of the Year award to the traditional watering hole on Wednesday April 9.
Branch chairperson Tim Cadwell handed over the accolade to Pete and Ruth Walker who have been at the helm at the Seven Stars for three years.

The couple previously kept The Starving Rascal in Amblecote, also earning a Pub of the Year accolade there too.
Black Country Ales, which owns The Seven Stars, congratulated the couple on their success in a post on Facebook which said: “Nearly three years to the day since Pete and Ruth Walker took over The Seven Stars, the pub has just been crowned Stourbridge & Halesowen CAMRA Pub of the Year for 2025.
“Their impact was felt from the start, with The Seven Stars landing in the Good Beer Guide in their first year. Since then, the pub has flourished, thanks to Pete and Ruth’s welcoming nature and a packed schedule of events.”
CAMRA branch members judge all the pubs in the branch’s area each year – rating them on the quality and consistency of their beer.
The Edwardian Grade II listed Seven Stars, opposite Stourbridge Junction railway station, boasts many traditional features and has two bars, three rooms and a function room with accommodation available also.
It serves a wide range of beers, including those from Black Country Ales’ own brewery and other small breweries, and serves traditional bar snacks including cobs and pork pies as well as Sunday lunches.
Outside there’s a popular beer garden and outside smoking area, with traditional pub games available inside and a log fire burning in colder months.
The pub, which is on a bus route, is also dog friendly and wheelchair accessible.
It hosts a weekly Tuesday quiz, a monthly Thursday music quiz, as well as hosting duties for the Stourbridge Darts League and Black Country Ales Darts League on Mondays and Tuesdays.
With a background in running music venues, landlord Pete has also brought regular Saturday night live music into the mix.
As well as being a popular stop for train journeying Albion fans pre and post-match, the pub has also hosted some famous names with Steven Knight having stayed at the pub while filming the upcoming Peaky Blinders movie.
