Motorcyclist dies in collision with lamppost in Staffordshire
A man has sadly died following a collision on Stafford Road in Lichfield this afternoon.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called shortly before 1pm to a road traffic collision involving a motorbike and a lamppost on Stafford Road in Lichfield.
Two ambulances, two paramedic officers and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance attended the scene where they found the man with life threatening injuries.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the man could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man's next of kin was informed this evening and is being supported by officers.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “Upon arrival we found a man who was the motorcyclist in a critical condition with life threatening injuries.
“Ambulance staff quickly began administering advanced life support to him. Unfortunately, despite their best efforts it became clear that nothing more could be done to save him and he was confirmed deceased at the scene.
“No further patients required treatment.”
The road is currently closed in both directions between A5192 Eastern Avenue and the roundabout leading to A151 Tewnals Lane.
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "We are appealing for information after a man sadly died after a collision in Lichfield.
"We were called at 1pm today (Friday 11 April) to Stafford Road in Lichfield following reports of a single-vehicle collision involving a motorbike.
"Officers attended along with colleagues from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and West Midlands Ambulance Service and the air ambulance.
"Sadly, the man was pronounced dead by paramedics a short time later. His next of kin has been informed and will be supported by specialist officers.
"We are keen to speak to motorists who were passing at that time who may have relevant dashcam footage or witnessed what happened. They should contact us on 101 quoting incident number 319 of 11 April or email our Collision Investigation Unit directly at ciu@staffordshire.police.uk."
