Man arrested on the M6 in Stafford after 'blowing more than four times legal limit' on roadside breath test

A man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving on the M6 in Stafford after allegedly blowing more than four times the limit on a roadside test.

Officers on the Staffordshire Police Road Crime Team (RCT) spotted a car driving down the northbound carriageway of the motorway in the early hours of Thursday (April 10) morning and pulled the driver over.

The force said he blew 146 on a roadside breath test, which measures if you are over the drink-drive limit. The legal limit is 35.

A 50-year-old man, from Stafford, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

A police spokesperson said: "Our RCT are working proactively across Staffordshire to protect motorists from harm and to act robustly against those committing crimes.

"In the first six months since we launched the team, more than 460 people have been arrested, 2,300 roadside tests carried out and 120 stolen vehicles recovered."
