The weather in the West Midlands has been nothing short of glorious for some time now.

But all good things must come to an end - including the sun, according to the latest weather forecast from the Met Office.

Today (Friday, April 11) is another pleasant and dry day after early fog lifted. Plenty of warm sunshine is promised with light winds and tempertures above the April average - with a maximum of 21 degrees celsius forecast.

Tonight the Met Office says we should expect conditions ot remain dry and settled, but turning chill in rural areas around Shropshire and Staffordshirewith mist and fog developing - and a touch of frost. Minimum temperatures are forecast to drop to 6 degrees celsuis.

Saturday is expected to be another sunny day - after fog clears. However the Met Office says the weather will become cloudier through the late morning with some showers possible by evening - although it will 'still feel pleasant'. Maximum temperatures are due to drop to 19 degrees celsius.

When is the fine weather forecast to end in the West Midlands?

From Sunday to Tuesday the weather in the West Midlands is forecast to become more changeable with showers, heavy at times and longer spells of rain, especially on Tuesday. The showers are expected to be interspersed by some bright spells. Throughout the day it will often be breezy and become less warm.

Thundery showers risk for the UK - Tuesday April 15 to Wednesday April 24

Much more mixed weather conditions than of late forecasted by the weather experts, with low pressure systems and their associated areas of rain and showers often affecting the UK.

The rain is likely to be heavy at times, and the showers, most frequently affecting western areas, will also be heavy and blustery in places, with isolated small hail and thunder. There will also be some brighter, drier spells in between rain and showers, although probably large amounts of cloud too, with limited sunshine.

Unsettled, wet, and occasionally windy conditions are most likely during the first few days of this period; beyond this, and certainly into the following week, there is an increasing chance that cooler, northerly winds could develop, followed by a less unsettled spell. Temperatures mostly around average for the time of year.

More settled conditions on the way - Friday 25 Apr - Friday 9 May

Some unsettled weather is possible at this start of this period with showers or longer spells of rain in places, the Met Office says. However, a change to more settled conditions is more likely through this period as high pressure becomes more influential.

This more settled theme continues into early May, although some briefer spells of wetter, unsettled weather remain possible, especially in the south. Temperatures are expected to be above average overall.
