Man arrested after pensioner is assaulted in Rugeley

A man has been arrested following an assault in a park in Rugeley.

Police were called to Elmore Park near the town centre at around 10am yesterday (Sunday 6 April) following reports that a man had been attacked.

The victim, a man in his 70s, suffered minor injuries.

A 49-year-old man, from Rugeley, was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.

He has been released on conditional police bail whilst police enquiries continue.
