A woman has been jailed for a string of shop thefts in Birmingham city centre.

Olivia Rockley has been locked up for multiple thefts across businesses in the city.

The 32-year-old's shop theft spree spanned across March this year.

West Midlands Police officers from the city centre neighbourhood team worked with Boots, which helped detain Rockley on 2 April.

When appearing at Birmingham Magistrates Court last Thursday (3 April), Rockley pleaded guilty to four theft offences.

The 32-year-old was given a five-month jail term.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “We know how frustrating shop theft is for business owners, and the wider community, and we'll always look to identify and arrest suspects.

“We carry out regular patrols - through both visible and plain clothed officers - to monitor retail areas and respond to issues.

“We'll continue to pursue jail terms and target those who cause harm to businesses and customers.

“It's important people report any incidents to us so we take action. You can do this by calling 101, or via Live Chat on our website. Always call 999 in an emergency.”
