Fire crews called to grassland blaze at nature reserve near Cannock in a separate incident to Staffordshire wildfires

Firefighters tackled a blaze on grassland at a nature reserve near Cannock.

A total of three fire crews were called to Hednesford Hills Local Nature Reserve on Valley Road, Hednesford, at around 7pm on Friday (April 4).

The incident involved grass on fire, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said.

Fire crews left the scene at around 9pm.

In a separate incident, firefighters were called a blaze on Friday evening at another nature reserve, Gentleshaw Common, just a short drive away from Hednesford Hills.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service described the fire as "significantly large" and urged residents to close their doors and windows.
