Walsall man, 33, arrested on suspicion of fraud after 60-year-old robbed of 'thousands'

Police have arrested a 33-year-old man on suspicion of fraud after another man was robbed of thousands of pounds.

Staffordshire Police have arrested a Walsall man after a man in his 60s had a large amount of money taken from his bank account.

Officers starting investigating after receiving a report of fraud where thousands of pounds had been taken from a victims bank account. 

The force began carrying enquiries into the incident and later arrested a 33-year-old man from Walsall on suspicion of fraud

The man was questioned in custody and was later bailed while the investigation continues. 

Chief inspector Paul Finlayson, from the Lichfield local policing team, said: "We’re working proactively across Staffordshire to target those harming local communities. 

“Fraud is the most prevalent crime in the UK and often causes long-lasting emotional and financial harm to innocent people.

"I want communities to know that we’re working hard every single day to tackle the problems that matter the most and we’re continuing to take action against those responsible."
