'Mature men' who attacked families playing cricket over water pistol argument likened to a 'Western film posse'

A judge likened three mature men to "a posse from a Western film" when they left a pub to attack families at a nearby park due to a boy being sprayed by a water pistol.

Stephen McCallum, aged 40; David Hammond, aged 41; and James Bond, aged 60; all from Kingstanding, drove in convoy with nine other men to Doe Bank Park in Pheasey, Walsall on May 28, 2023.

Brandishing weapons and shouting they confronted Asian families playing cricket and hit one man with a bar and pushed a woman holding a two-year-old child.

McCallum was found guilty of wounding with intent, violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon, Bond and Hammdon of violent disorder after a trial. They were cleared of racial aggravated charges.
