The popular weekly run at the city's West Park has become congested at the start, with many falling to a walking pace for the first 200 metres.

So organisers are to turn everyone around and instead of three laps of the park in an anti-clockwise direction, runners will instead complete the course clockwise.

The new arrangement will come into force on April 12, when the weekly 9am Saturday run takes place in the park, which is just a stone's throw from Molineux.

The news was broken on the parkrun's Facebook page.

Organisers said: "The number of people doing parkrun in West Park has been steadily increasing this year and the congestion after the first corner before the route goes on to the perimeter path is becoming more significant.

"The core management team has therefore decided to modify the course to remove this congestion area.
