The event, which took place earlier today (March 26) was organised by history teacher Tom Wilkinson, who said it was an 'honour' to welcome Mindu into the school grounds and share her story, which reinforced the importance of 'tolerance and remembrance' for future generations.

The Year 9 students at Moreton School, in Wolverhampton, had the chance to ask thoughtful questions which would ultimately deepen their understanding and knowledge of one of history's most heart-breaking periods.

Organised in partnership with the Holocaust Educational Trust,  the special event was filled with a 'powerful' sense of 'empathy, reflection, and quiet determination' as the pupils respectfully posed questions, and handed Mindu a bouquet of flowers to thank her for taking the time to sit down with them and discuss her thought-provoking story of bravery and liberation.
