The Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain Wolverhampton branch (AUGB) opened in 1955  to offer help to Ukrainians in the community.

Since the Russia-Ukraine war broke out in February 2022, much of their work has involved tirelessly providing essential support to women and families who were displaced by the conflict in their home country.

Now, three years on from Vladimir Putin's invasion, the group has said they are continuing to offer support to those Ukrainian refugees as the support of the community is more needed than ever.

Greg Kowalczuk, branch chair of the association, said: "It's been a massive shock coming from Ukraine to England.

"The life is different, and while they are picking it up very quickly, the language is different. What we do here is try to bring a little bit of Ukraine to the refugees.

"They can come here, be comfortable, speak Ukrainian, and visit the shop where they can help themselves to new and donated items that they desperately need."

While the group has been offering help and support to refugees since the beginning of the war, they said that further support from the community is always welcome.

The branch chair said: "We help by providing everything they need for the homes that they move into, however, if there is anyone out there that would like to donate, that would be very much appreciated.

"We would like to say thank you to Wolverhampton Council for their constant support over the three years, and the Wolves at Work team who helped to get people into work, training and English language lessons, and the Refugee Migrant Centre. Thank you."

Donations can be taken to the Wolverhampton branch's building at 35 Merridale Street West, Wolverhampton, United Kingdom.
