Two men have been taken to hospital after shots were fired in Birmingham.

Police were called to Bickford Road in Aston after gunshots were heard shortly before 6am on Sunday (March 23).

Two men were taken to hospital with injuries not thought to be life-threatening, a West Midlands Police spokesperson said.

The force has launched an investigation and urged people with information to get in touch.

The police spokesperson added: "We will have officers in the area throughout today [Sunday] carrying out further enquiries.

"We know there were a lot of people in the area when the shooting happened and we are asking anyone with photos or video to contact us."
