Man dies after crash in Staffordshire - police appeal for witnesses

A man has died following a crash in Staffordshire.

People were called to a report of a serious collision on Hednesford Road near Rugeley at around 4pm on Saturday (March 22).

It involved a grey Land Rover and a grey MG. The driver of the MG, a man aged in his 40s, died at the scene.

His family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers, a Staffordshire Police spokesperson said.

The driver and passengers in the Land Rover were taken to hospital for further checks, but police believe their injuries are minor.

The force is appealing for anyone with information about the fatal crash to come forward.

In a statement on Sunday morning, Staffordshire Police said: "Detectives from our Serious Collision Investigation Unit are at the scene and are now trying to establish the circumstances leading up to the collision.

"Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage of the incident should contact ciu@staffordshire.police.uk quoting incident number 510 of March 22."
