The seizure comes after West Midlands Police officers raided a one-bedroom flat on Fir Tree Farm Drive, Stechford, after acting on intelligence that the occupant may be involved in the manufacturing of weapons.

Firearms officers raided the home of Khiyume Seville, 24, and discovered welding equipment and tooling equipment, as well as a deadly stash of guns hidden behind a bath panel.

A Madsen submachine gun capable of fully automatic fire was seized during the raid, as well as a silver revolver, two blank-firing pistols which had been converted to fire live rounds, and two more blank-firing guns.

In the video, released by West Midlands Police, officers could be seen breaching the door of the address before calling out to Seville where he was arrested and the property was searched.

Detective Sergeant Barry Heal, from the West Midlands Police Major Crime Unit, said: "We had information that Seville may have been involved in the manufacture of prohibited weapons and the items recovered from his flat proved that to be the case.

“These weapons were capable of causing serious injury and death on the streets of the West Midlands."

Seville admitted multiple charges relating to the possession of firearms and ammunition and manufacturing prohibited firearms and ammunition. He was jailed on March 13 for 13 years at Birmingham Crown Court.

Mr Heal added: "The Madsen in particular is a very unusual weapon to find. When we recovered it, it was in the process of being reactivated. The work was nearly complete, so we got there in the nick of time.

"The tools that Seville had enabled him to convert deactivated and blank firing weapons into live and viable firearms and ammunition, which would have gone on to be sold on to criminals for use.

“If we had not acted, it’s clear that he would gone on to make further weapons which would have caused untold harm in our communities."
