Police arrest 200 people in just 24 hours, with more than 70 for domestic abuse offences

In the last 24 hours West Midlands Police has arrested more than 200 people across the area, as it deals with offences ranging from theft, possession of offensive weapons, violence, and dangerous driving.

Of those arrests, more than 70 were made for suspected domestic abuse offences.

In Perry Barr seven people are being held in the custody block on suspicion of theft offences, including vehicle theft, and shop theft.

A 44-year-old man is currently in custody after items were taken from a shop at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. He’s also been arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs with intent to supply.

Two other men are being questioned on suspicion of separate shop thefts.

In Oldbury, three people are being held over three separate robberies around the area.

One man’s in custody in Wolverhampton after two suspected stolen cars were recovered by the Force's officers.

They were both reported stolen from two different addresses in the city earlier this week.

The Force said that as it continues to tackle vehicle crime and road safety, it currently has four people in custody for various driving offences including dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink or drugs - as well as four people in custody for possession of a knife or bladed article, following arrests earlier today (March 19).
