Watch: Actors and production team spotted in West Midlands park as 'Silent Witness' filming underway in region

A production team and actors wearing 'police' uniforms have been spotted at a West Midlands park.

People visiting Sutton Park in Sutton Coldfield have been left wondering what is going on at the beauty spot.

A number of film trailers have been spotted parked up there as well as actors wearing 'police' uniforms since Thursday (March 13).

A sign which read "caution, filming in progress. We apologise for any inconvenience caused", could be spotted near to Bracebridge Pool on Friday.

On Monday, filming staff wearing hi-vis vests could be seen, while 'police' hats sat on a nearby table.

Facebook users have speculated it is for the filming of the newest season of BBC drama 'Silent Witness', which is due to be released next year.

A BBC spokesperson confirmed filming for the programme was currently underway in Birmingham.

One man wrote to Facebook: "Was walking with the dog, saw police actors on the dam at Blackroot Pool and police actors in police black boats on the lake. Big trailers by The Bistro car park."

Another person claimed they saw actress Emilia Fox, who plays Dr Nikki Alexander on the programme, sitting on a bench in the park.

A post to the Sutton Park Community Facebook group read: "More filming. Saw Emilia Fox sitting on the bench." 

One woman wrote to Facebook: "At least something good for Sutton, love Silent Witness."

Another woman said: "Another exciting doggy walk this [Monday] morning in Sutton Park, as I approached the filming of Silent Witness.

"...Look forward to watching this new series and recognising our beautiful parkland in action."

The long-running drama, which follows a team of forensic experts as they work to investigate crimes, first aired in February 1996 and will release its 29th season next year.
