Police investigating reports of attempted abduction in Lichfield

Staffordshire Police have  launched an investigation after a report of a man attempting to grab a girl in Lichfield.

At around 5.45pm on Sunday it was reported that a girl, in her early teens, was walking on Burton Old Road West near St Michael’s Church, Lichfield, when she noticed a white car following her. 

The passenger, described as a white man, got out and attempted to grab her.

She ran away to a place of safety and alerted someone about what had happened.

CID officers have been looking through CCTV and speaking to the girl to support her and understand more about what happened.

The checks have not identified any suspects or a suspect vehicle in the area at this stage.

A police spokesman said: "Reports of this nature are always taken extremely seriously and officers are working hard to establish more information.
