Man arrested after car stolen in knife point car-jacking in Birmingham - police seize gun and sword

One man has been arrested and another is on the run following a knife-point car-jacking in Birmingham last night.

The arrest comes after West Midlands Police officers saw a car in Weoley Castle, Birmingham, which had been reported stolen in a knifepoint car-jacking. 

Officers quickly worked to box the vehicle in to prevent a pursuit, however, both occupants escaped the vehicle. 

One occupant fled the scene, while the other was caught by officers. 

Upon a search, a firearm was discovered, plus a sword that was still in the vehicle. 

Enquiries are ongoing to find the second person.

On X, a West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "Officers saw this car in Weoley Castle which had been stolen in a knifepoint car-jacking. 

"We boxed it in to prevent a pursuit & both occupants decamped. 

"One escaped but another was caught with a firearm plus we recovered a sword from the car. Enquiries ongoing."
