Stonnall murder: Police granted extra time to question man, 53, over woman's death in village

Staffordshire Police has been granted extra time to question a 53-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of the murder of Natasha Callan in Stonnall.

Natasha Callan, 48, was found dead at a private address on Main Street, Stonnall, at 7.50am on Tuesday (February 25) after Staffordshire Police responded to reports of an incident.

On arrival, paramedics discovered the woman, however, it became apparent that nothing could be done to save her, and she was confirmed dead at the scene.

A 53-year-old man from the Lichfield area was arrested shortly afterwards on suspicion of the murder.

Now, Staffordshire Police has confirmed that the man remains in police custody after detectives were granted a custody extension.

A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: "The suspect remains in police custody after detectives obtained a magistrates court custody extension."

A postmortem exam was due to take place on Thursday (February 27). Ms Callan's family were being supported by specialist officers.
