See no evil, hear no evil, after midnight as Cheeky Monkey creates earlier Wolverhampton club night
Clubbers who are getting too old to burn the midnight candle have had their prayers answered after an iconic Wolverhampton club night decided to open early.
Cheeky Monkey Early Doors at The Halls will start at 5pm and will finish at 10pm on Saturday, April 12.
A favourite destination of Wolverhampton clubbers on Friday nights through the 1990s and early 2000s, hundreds of people flocked to the Civic Hall for Cheeky Monkey.
However, now with many veteran clubbers it is the case of the mind is willing but the flesh is weak.
Promoter Dave Travis, who has been putting on gigs and club nights since the 1980s, told the Express & Star: "We kept on getting requests asking us to put on an early night so people can get home for Match of the Day.
"Our crowd are getting older but still want to enjoy Cheeky Monkey so we want to give people what they want."
Generation X and Millennials are refusing to put their partying ways to bed which is creating demand for more day-time raves and concerts. Statistics show their children drink less alcohol than they did and are much less likely to spend their weekends on dancefloors which has seen nightclubs across the land shut their doors.
Cheeky Monkey ended 2012 but now returns a few times of a year at the newly refurbished The Halls.
Dave added: "We have had some really successful nights since The Halls returned.
"People were asking for an earlier start and finish so we’re calling the next one Cheeky Monkey Early Doors on with doors opening at 5pm and going on until 10pm so people can be home well before midnight."
The opening hours might be different but the music will be the same, from all eras including 70s disco, 80s pop, rock, indie, punk and ska, alongside an eclectic mix of floor fillers.
