Woman left seriously injured after being hit by car in Stourbridge outside school

A woman was taken to hospital with potentially serious injuries after being hit by a car outside a school in Stourbridge.

West Midlands Ambulance Service were called to reports of a collision between a pedestrian and a car outside the Gigmill School on the Broadway in Norton at around 8.45am.

An ambulance arrived at the scene and crews treated the woman before conveying her to Russells Hall Hospital.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of an RTC on The Broadway in Norton at 8.45am. 

"An ambulance was sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews found a car and a pedestrian had been involved in a collision. 

"The pedestrian, a woman, was treated for potentially serious injuries and conveyed to Russells Hall Hospital."

National Express West Midlands put out a message to say that the number 7 service between Dudley and Wollaston Junction had been diverted due to the accident.

The travel provider said the service would be diverted along Shenstone Avenue, The Broadway, Whittington Road, Norton Road and South Road in both directions.

A spokesman for National Express West Midlands said: "Due to an accident at The Broadway in Norton outside the Gigmill School, services to Wollaston Junction will divert via Shenstone Avenue, The Broadway, Whittington Road, Norton Road and South Road and to Dudley in the reverse of above."

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We were called shortly after 9am today after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Broadway in Norton.

"The driver stopped at the scene and assisted officers with their enquiries.

"A woman was taken to hospital with potentially serious injuries. 

"Witnesses to the collision should contact us via Live Chat on our website or by calling 101 quoting log number 938 of 27 Feb."
