Woman found dead in Staffordshire village named by police as investigation continues

The woman who was found dead in a house in Stonnall has been named by police as an investigation into her death continues.

Staffordshire Police have named the woman found dead at a house on Main Road as 48-year-old Natasha Callan.

She was found dead at the house on Tuesday morning at 7.50am, with a 53-year-old man from the Lichfield area arrested on suspicion of murder and still in custody, with detectives having been granted a superintendent's extension to continue questioning.

Staffordshire Police also confirmed that a post mortem was due to take place on Thursday, while Ms Callan's family were being supported by specialist officers.

A spokeswoman for Staffordshire Police said: "Detectives have named a woman who sadly died in Stonnall on Tuesday.

"Natasha Callan, aged 48, was found dead at a house on Main Road at 7.50am on Tuesday, February 25.

"A 53-year-old man, from the Lichfield area, was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody. 

"Detectives have been granted a superintendent’s extension.

"A post mortem is due to take place today.

"The woman’s family are being supported by specialist officers.
