Mani and Suky Sahota have been running the Big Chippy takeaway on Jews Lane in Lower Gornal since January last year and have worked since then to build a business which has become very popular within the area for the quality and quantity of the food.
This has included keeping prices low, offering specials and combination meals and also providing free food and discounted prices to people in need.
Suky Sahota said the actual business of running a fish and chip shop had been very new to him and his brother, but he had been inspired to run the shop after seeing it closed and eventually deciding to bid on it when it came to auction.

He said: "I'm originally from Bilston and I didn't really come over to Gornal until September 2023, but I went past it and thought it looked like a nice chippy and wanted to get some chips on the way back, but found it was closed.
"This happened a few more times until I was scrolling through Facebook and saw an article that said the shop was on sale and available for cheaper than a house, which interested us as we do a lot of work with property, although we don't have any experience with chip shops.
