Staffordshire: Four taken to hospital and three arrests after police pursuit results in crash

Three men have been arrested after a car suspected of being linked to the theft of another vehicle was involved in a collision near Cannock.

The arrests follow a police investigation into the theft of a Range Rover from an address in Cannock Road in Burntwood at around 8pm on February 21.

Then the next day shortly after 8.10pm a black Kia Niro believed to be linked to the theft failed to stop for West Midlands Police officers near Clarion Way in Cannock prompting a pursuit.

Following a short pursuit it was involved in a collision with a black Mercedes being driven by a member of the public in Station Road in Hednesford.

The driver and two occupants of the Kia and the driver and single occupant of the Mercedes were all taken to hospital.

Staffordshire Police said their injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

The three males who were arrested in the aftermath were a 32-year-old on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking, conspiracy to steal a motor vehicle, theft of a motor vehicle, driving a motor vehicle dangerously, failing to stop a vehicle when required by a constable, possession with intent to supply cocaine and possession with intent to supply cannabis.

A 23-year-old on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking, conspiracy to steal a motor vehicle, driving a motor vehicle dangerously, driving a vehicle whilst unfit through drugs, failing to stop a vehicle when required by a constable, possession with intent to supply cocaine and possession with intent to supply cannabis.

A 19-year-old on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking, conspiracy to steal a motor vehicle, driving a motor vehicle dangerously, driving a vehicle whilst unfit through drugs, failing to stop a vehicle when required by a constable, possession with intent to supply cocaine and possession with intent to supply cannabis.

The force said all three men, who were from the Cannock area, have been given police bail while its inquiries continue. 

It added that West Midlands Ambulance Service and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene of the collision.
