The specialist palliative and bereavement support provider launched the new initiative as part of a new national campaign called ‘This is Hospice Care’.

The campaign aims to raise awareness about the vital role hospices play in communities and shift public perceptions of hospice care.

Compton Care will be holding a series of drop-in information sessions to provide more information and answer any questions people may have about its free will offering.

Jo Till, Legacy & In Memory fundraiser at Compton Care, said: “An up-to-date will is the best way to ensure your wishes are followed and secures the future for the people and causes you love.

"We are delighted to now be offering a free wills initiative, which will encourage people to plan for the future while also considering the impact they can have on their community.

"Family and friends always come first, but if people can remember Compton in their will, they will leave a lasting legacy. Even small gifts make a significant difference in supporting patients and their loved ones.”

The wills that Compton offer are completely free of charge.

Compton said that those using the initiative are under no obligation to leave a donation to Compton, though by doing so, they would help the charity to continue to provide vital care, ensuring that everyone has access to the palliative care and bereavement support they need for generations to come.

Drop-in sessions to find out more about Compton’s free wills initiative are taking place between 11am and 2pm each day at Codsall Hub on February 25, Compton's Coffee Shop on St George's Parade on February 26, Compton Care Dudley Community Hub.

A spokeswoman for Compton Care said: "Gifts in wills fund nearly a quarter of Compton’s work to support people with life limiting conditions and are more important today than ever before.

"To help shine a light on how vital legacies are to Compton Care, the charity is part of a collaboration of more than 140 hospices across the UK, brought together by Hospice UK, participating in a brand-new national campaign.

"This is Hospice Care features an emotive TV advert highlights the difference leaving a legacy in a will to a local hospice can make, ensuring people facing a life limiting illness can get the care and support they need."
