Aiden Wright, aged 26, of Griffiths Drive Ashmore Park was originally charged with murder but now will stand trial for death by dangerous driving at Wolverhampton Crown Court.
Ryan Griffiths was allegedly struck by a car in Burleigh Road in the Merridale area on August 21 last year. He died two days later in hospital.

The 29-year-old's death sparked a massive outpouring of grief on social media from friends and family of the popular man. A GoFundMe fundraiser for the costs of his funeral quickly raised over £4,000 with 105 people giving donations in memory of "Griffo".
Mr Griffiths' family paid tribute to their "loving and devoted son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew and cousin".

Wright was arrested and charged with murder a week later and remanded in custody. However, after extensive deliberations between the police, CPS and defence lawyers the murder charge was dropped.
Wright pleaded not guilty to causing death by dangerous driving and will stand trial on October 20.
Adjourning the trial until October Judge Michael Chambers KC told Wright he would have to work with his defence team before the trial, which would be held whether he attended or not.
