Delays for rush hour commuters after stranded car leaves lanes closed on M6 near Wednesbury

There were delays on a major section of motorway near Wednesbury after a stranded car left at least one lane blocked.

The northbound carriageway on the M6 near Junction 9 for Wednesbury and Walsall was left with building queues for about 20 minutes after a car was left stranded after breaking down at around 7.30am.

At least one lane was blocked while the car was recovered, with West Midlands Roads saying that the area was cleared just after 7.50am.

A spokesman for West Midlands Roads said: "The M6 northbound around Junction 9 Wednesbury had seen live lane(s) blocked because of a stranded car, with slight queues on approach.

"The issue on the M6 Northbound around Junction 9 for Wednesbury was confirmed as cleared at 7.50am."
