West Midlands Police has put the Section 35 dispersal order in place in the town, which allows officers to move people on who they believe are contributing to anti-social behaviour or crime.

The powers will be in effect until Wednesday afternoon (February 19).

The force said it has put the dispersal order in place following a "number of incidents" over the last few days.

This includes reports of graffiti, shop thefts, off road bikes, and people entering abandoned premises.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "Officers are patrolling the areas, including one building which has featured in videos shared on social media.

"That site has been secured and we are working with colleagues at Birmingham City Council to ensure it stays that way. Extra officers also remain in the area to offer reassurance."

It is the second time the force has put a Section 35 dispersal order in place in the town centre in a week.

The powers were also in effect for 48 hours from February 14 following reports of anti-social behaviour.

Anyone who has witnessed any incidents or has information has been asked to contact West Midlands Police via Live Chat on its website, or by calling 101 and quoting 3656 of February 17.

Alternatively, people can speak to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
