'Our world has been turned upside down': Family pay tribute to 'beautiful' man killed in hit-and-run collision

The family of a man who died in a hit-and-run collision said their world has been "turned upside down".

Wynford Griffiths, or 'Willie' as he was known affectionately, died when he was struck by a car in the Stechford area of Birmingham on February 9.

It happened shortly after 9pm near to the junction of Audley Road and Flaxley Road.

Now, Mr Griffiths' heartbroken family have paid tribute to him and urged the person responsible to "do the decent thing".

In a tribute issued by West Midlands Police, the family said: "Our beautiful brother, uncle and great uncle has been taken away from us in such an awful way.

"We are appealing to anyone who was in the area and might have camera footage to please contact the police.

"If you are the person who did this, please do the decent thing and hand yourself in to the police.

"Our world has been turned upside down with what you have done to our family."

West Midlands Police said officers from its Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are continuing to investigate the crash.

Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes said: "We want anyone who was in the area at the time of the collision to come forward and give us any footage or images you might have.

"We are also directly appealing to the driver of the car to do the right thing and take responsibility for your actions.

"If you think you know who was responsible, get in touch with us and share whatever information you have."
