Long delays on M6 near Stafford after crash involving lorry and motorhome

There were long lines of traffic and delays on the M6 after a collision forced two lanes to close.

The M6 was closed for just over an hour on Monday after the collision, which happened on the northbound carriageway between junction 12 for Gailey and junction 13 for Stafford at around 2.37pm and involved a lorry and a motorhome.

Two lanes were closed off by traffic officers from National Highways as work took place to recover the two vehicles, with delays of up to 30 minutes recorded.

A spokesman for National Highways said at the time: "Two lanes of four are closed on the M6 north  between junction 12 for Gailey and junction 13 for Stafford in the West Midlands

"This is due to a collision between a lorry and a motor-home. National Highways traffic officers and recovery in attendance. 

"There are 30 minute delays on approach."

The work was reported by National Highways as completed by 3.43pm, with all lanes reopened and traffic returned back to normal.

A spokesman for National Highways said: "All lanes are now open on the M6 north between junction 12 for Gailey and junction 13 for Stafford in the West Midlands

"Please allow extra journey time whilst traffic flow returns to normal. Thank you for your patience."
