The teenager was arrested in connection with a stabbing in Bordesley Green, Birmingham, on Saturday.
West Midlands Police were called to the scene of Pretoria Road at around 3.30pm on Saturday following reports of a stabbing incident.
On arrival, officers discovered a 16-year-old boy who was quickly transported to Heartlands Hospital with serious injuries.
Detectives from the Major Crime Unit began investigating the case, later arresting a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the incident.
He remains in custody for questioning.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of a stabbing in Pretoria Road at around 3.30pm on Saturday, where a 16-year-old boy was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
"He remains in hospital in a stable condition."
Ambulances
There was then online claims that a group of around 30 to 40 people 'ambushed' Heartlands Hospital, which was later 'put into lockdown'.
But West Midlands Police refuted the claims of ambulances being raided or unable to drop off patients, saying that after speaking to officers and hospital staff at the scene, the rumours were found to be 'untrue'.
A police spokesperson said: "We want to reiterate that reports of ambulances being raided or unable to drop-off patients at the hospital following the stabbing, are untrue.
"False claims have been made on social media and repeated in the community.
"We have spoken to officers who attended the hospital with the victim, along with hospital staff on duty at the time as well as ambulance officials. All have confirmed that these rumours are untrue, unhelpful and damaging to the caring service they provide."
