Wolverhampton Council has lodged plans for a multi-use games area (MUGA) along with other pitches, in Northwood Park, in Bushbury, after consulting with residents and children's groups.
The application is for the construction of a games area primarily for football and cricket, a children's play area and replacement tree planting under the Wolverhampton Open Space Strategy and Action Plan.
The design and access statement said: "It is proposed to create a new 412.5 square metre asphalt cement surfaced MUGA with rebound fencing at the goal mouths adjacent to the existing skate park and basketball pitch at the northwest area of the park.
"It is also proposed to remove the play equipment from the existing children’s play area of 513 square metres at the southeast area of the park and alter the ground profile of the play area to accommodate new play equipment. The play equipment will incorporate inclusive items of play equipment suitable for individuals with reduced mobility.
"It is also proposed to plant 44 native deciduous trees within the park to provide a net gain in biodiversity following the completion of the development."
A copy of applications can be viewed at the Civic Centre main reception desk on the ground floor or online at wolverhampton.gov.uk/planningapplications.
Representations should be made in writing to Planning, Civic Centre, St Peter's Square, Wolverhampton WV1 1RP or or by email to planning@wolverhampton.gov.uk before February 22.
