Tom Read Wilson visited Wolverhampton Grammar School on January 28 to promote his book 'Wonderful Words That Tell a Tale', which explores the stories behind everyday words.
More than 300 children from local schools in Wolverhampton came together to welcome the television personality, who has starred on programmes including Channel 4's 'Celebs Go Dating', as well as book illustrator Ian Morris.
Pupils learned about the stories behind the words used in everyday language and took part in an interactive draw-along session, which saw them request drawings from Mr Morris.
They also had the chance to purchase personalised signed copies of the book.
It was however not the first time Mr Read Wilson has visited Wolverhampton Grammar School, having also gone there upon the release of his book, 'Every Word Tells a Story', in 2022.
The author said: "The first time we came here it was the very first day of our very first schools tour for 'Every Word Tells a Story'.
"Sensing the children's humour and the words they like to chew on and the words they were fascinated by actually really inspired our second book."
On his visit to the Compton Road school, Mr Read Wilson said he was looking forward to tucking into lunch at the grammar school.
He said: "I have to say [Ian and I] were talking about the school dinner, which is so toothsome, for the intervening two years so I'm so excited about it today - it is not like the one's I remember."
Wolverhampton Grammar School welcomed the author's visit in collaboration with Authors Aloud UK and Quarto.
