Staffordshire Police have said that officers are continuing to support a local school that was forced into lockdown procedures after a former pupil gained access to the grounds.

The update comes following a disturbance at Chase Terrace Academy, on Burnt Cross Road, Burntwood, Staffordshire, where a former pupil gained access to the school grounds and later refused to leave.

Now, Staffordshire Police have said that a 12-year-old boy who was arrested on suspicion of affray has been placed on conditional police bail while officers continue their enquiries.

A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: "A 12-year-old boy who was arrested on suspicion of affray yesterday (Tuesday 4 February) following a disturbance at a school in Burntwood, has been placed on conditional police bail while our inquiries continue.

"Officers remain in the area today (Wednesday 5 February) and continue to support the local school as we investigate what happened.

"The public is urged to avoid speculation on social media while we continue with our inquiries."
