West Midlands Police have put section 60 powers in place for the Whitmore Reans area of Wolverhampton following a series of incidents involving weapons in recent weeks.
The powers were put into place on Sunday evening, with the effect to stay in place until midday on Monday.
The Section 60 powers allow West Midlands Police to stop and search people without the need to have reasonable grounds.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We will be using Section 60 powers in the Whitmore Reans area of Wolverhampton this evening and overnight following a series of violent incidents involving weapons in recent weeks.
"The powers will be in place from 5pm today until midday tomorrow. As always, our main focus is on keeping everyone safe."
West Midlands Police have also asked anyone who has information on crime to contact them via the Live Chat service on their website, their 101 number, or in an emergency, their 999 emergency number.
