R Davies Metals & Sons Ltd, in Oak Lane, Kingswinford, have released a video showing the devastating moment an expensive heavy-duty metal shear was damaged by suspected 'arsonists' during an incident at their building on Oak Lane on Sunday.

The video was released as part of an appeal by the group, with a £10,000 reward also being offered to anyone who gives information that leads to an arrest and conviction.

In the video, two people can be seen entering the site on Sunday night at around 10.35pm, with both wearing face coverings and carrying canisters.

The duo can then be seen pouring fluid onto a piece of machinery inside one of the buildings, then setting it alight, the machinery - which the group identified as a Leimback shear - igniting almost immediately.

Around 50 firefighters from nine different fire stations helped to tackle the blaze, which was contained to the affected container by using water and foam to contain the fire.

Company appeal

The appeal on the R Davies Metals & Sons Ltd Facebook account said: "A sad 24 hours of events for us.

"Our newly installed Leimbach Shear was subject to a targeted arson attack at 10.35pm last night, resulting in heavy damage to our machine.

"This was a large investment on our behalf after building our business for nearly 20 years to the point we were able to achieve such things.

"All for some inhumane, moralless people to take it away in the blink of an eye.

"It's going to be a challenging time for all of us here to rebuild our livelihood and our next generation's future, but with determination and help from those around us, I'm sure we will bounce back.

"Someone knows them. Which is why we are offering £10,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the people who did this hateful act."

Police update

West Midlands Police have said that the blaze is being treated as arson, with investigators asking anyone with information to contact them directly.
