Helen Kempster, aged in her 40s, was left with catastrophic head, face, neck and chest injuries after being attacked in Kingsland Road near West Park in the early hours of June 16, 2022 and died in hospital later that morning. She has been beaten by Rahul Sharma who repeatedly kicked and punched her as she lay on the ground during the incident.
One of her teeth was later found at the scene by officers.
On Wednesday the 31-year-old, who has paranoid schizophrenia, was found guilty of her murder and rape in a unanimous verdict by the jury following a three-week trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court.
The trial has heard evidence that Sharma admitted punching Miss Kempster and holding her down after she took items including cash belonging to him. He also admitted to have been drinking heavily earlier in the previous evening.
